Music Monday: Care For The Planet

Ten years is a long time. Where were you ten years ago? How have you changed since then? How has the world changed since then?
We have been exposed to...
  • Interactive video games
  • Smart phones
  • Electric cars
  • Wikipedia
  • Lord Of The Rings on film
  • Planet Earth
  • Hurricane Katrina
  • The earthquake in Hati
  • The Mayerthorpe Police killings
  • A shocking Greyhound bus incodent
  • A huge nuclear explosion in Japan
  • The tsunami that hit Sri Lanka
  • The oil spill last summer
  • Lady Gaga
  • OutKast's "Hey Ya"
  • The Euro
  • The Ellen DeGeneres Show
  • Facebook
  • A new James Bond
The good mixed in with the bad, a lot can happen in ten year's time. Comparatively a lot can happen in a weekend... two people's lives can be joined together in a celebration like none other, and a man who has had his name on the top of the Most Wanted list can be found. It has been a big weekend, and a long ten years.

"Care For The Planet" part of my 2011 almanac. This doesn't just mean to act in a sustainable fashion. To me it also means Love One Another. It is a call to pay attention to what goes on in the world around you, locally and globally, and to become actively involved.

The song for today is a cry of hope, saying that even though terrible things happen in the world, "...love is the answer, love is the way..."

I know it has been over played, but I apparently don't care. The sentiment of this song remains. So for my nephew and my niece, who love this song, and who will be 16 and 14 in ten years from now... here is K'naan with Wavin' Flag

I hope that over the next ten years we will all grow stronger, individually and as a planet. Let us care for each other.

The month of May in the almanac is "One For The Kids"

A few quick announcements: We need your input!!!! Our blog's birthday party is on Thursday, and we have had two people submit their "2-cents". Please just send us a few sentences when you have the chance, sistersandsuch@gmail.com.

And lastly... don't forget to vote!Link
Happy Monday everyone.

  1. I love thinking of the children singing "when I get older I will be stronger...... then it goes back, then it goes back, then it goes back"

10 years ago was a mighty long time ago, and without "dating myself", sister 10 years ago I was in a very similar place to where you are now :)
